Next time you’re in a store, take a look around and closely view all the items used for the display of products. Chances are that no matter what kind of a shop you’re visiting, you’ll find display hooks.
Don’t Forget the Display Hooks!
These small objects are something we probably don’t even notice most of the time, but in many stores they are an essential display product and they literally are available in all shapes and sizes.
Big box stores, electronics retailers, drug stores, apparel shops….they all use display hooks of some kind or another. Display hooks keep merchandise tidy and provide a uniform look. They can hold just a few items or display a large amount of product at one time.
There are a number of different kinds of metal hooks that attach directly to the shelves you may be using in your store, especially if you’re selling small items such as health and beauty products or even electronics accessories like phone cases, headphones, cables, and more. These come in a variety of widths and lengths and include what the industry refers to as fastback hooks and flipper hooks.
They are easy to refill and easy to move and replace as well.
Many stores use pegboards, which hold the hooks that display their inventory. Pegboards are lightweight and easy to use and the perforations allow you to place display hooks in a variety of configurations.
These means displaying different sized products on the same pegboard should be no trouble at all. Look for a variety of pegboard hooks ranging from standard weight to heavy duty and choose those which will best support the products you wish to display.
While metal display hooks are the norm, plastic hooks are also available and some shop owners find them more amenable to their needs. Well-made plastic hooks can be equally as durable as the metal type and provide a slightly different look.
You might also want to consider the purchase of hooks that allow you to adhere scan tags directly to the front portion of the hook. This is ultra-convenient and lets your staff change prices/scan tags easily.
It also makes it obvious as to which price goes with which item. With different kinds of scan tag holders, identifying the price can sometimes be confusing.
When discussing shelving with your shop fitter, consider the kinds of hooks that will work best with the products you’ll be selling. As with many display accessories or items, you may find that you need more than one type of display hook.
